Circularity, flexible supply chains, product and food safety. Themes we need to face more than ever in 2023 which will be accompanied by a huge data explosion. In channeling all that data, GS1 plays an important role. With our unique identifiers and the sharing of product and location data, we give insight in the journey of the product: from raw material to end user. With our partners, we decide on which data we need to capture and share. Sustainability is at the core of upcoming European regulations. In 2024, for instance, the ESG score (Environmental, Social and Governance) will be mandatory for large companies and the digital product passport is on the agenda. Eventually, all products in Europe must have this passport. Within GS1 we are working closely on this in 116 countries worldwide. Our wish for 2023: Join GS1 so that together we accelerate sustainability!
