You may activate your account by using the MijnGS1-button and selecting ‘Activate your account’ on the log-in page.
Next, you are requested to enter your e-mail address, after which your account will be activated. You will subsequently receive an e-mail with a request to generate a password which you use to log on.
It is not possible to edit the e-mail address in your account data as logging on to ‘MijnGS1’ is based on this e-mail address.
If you would like to use a different e-mail address for logging on, the best choice is to generate a new contact with this new e-mail address and the role of ‘Administrator’.
A number of roles are defined in the MijnGS1-environment:
You have access to everything, you may add contacts and allocate roles.
You may perform the turnover verification and (in the near future) order products and services and pay invoices online. You may also edit company data.
You may use the basic MijnGS1 functions, such as managing product codes (for smaller barcode package clients), consulting purchased products and services and downloading of all codes your company has access to.
Data quality administrator:
You may use the Data Quality 2.0 programme (only applicable to GS1 Data Source clients in food, health and beauty), you may add contacts and allocate the data quality role.
You may use the Data Quality 2.0 programme (only applicable to GS1 Data Source clients in food, health and beauty).
Administration / Invoicing
GS1 is not-for-profit and from and for companies. Because you purchase a service from GS1 you are a participant of GS1. With the money of our participants we can:
- Maintain standards
- Develop new applications for existing standards
- Developing new standards
- Offer support to you, our participant
You can terminate your contract(s) before December 1st of each year, after payment of any outstanding invoices.
Your participation then ends on January 1st of the following year.
The starting point for the classification into turnover categories is that this is based on a so-called load-bearing principle. In concrete terms, this means that the more turnover a company has, the broader its shoulders would be and therefore a higher contribution would be charged. This serves as a basis for the annual fee payable.
The costs for GS1 code packages are divided into turnover categories. The turnover category you fall into depends on the annual total turnover of your company (or the number of beds available in your healthcare institution).
Every year (usually in September) GS1 asks you to state your total annual turnover for the last expired fiscal year.
If you do not comply with this request, you will be placed in the first higher turnover category for the next annual invoice (to be received in January of each year), in accordance with Article 1.10.1 of our General Terms and Conditions (in Dutch). GS1 Nederland is a not-for-profit organization.
From 1-1-2021, healthcare institutions will be classified in a higher turnover category.
The current cost reduction will prevent one department from bearing the costs for an entire healthcare institution (assuming that by then the costs can be divided over the entire healthcare institution).
The first invoice contains:
- Entrance fee: These are registration fees that you purchase with every GS1 service
- Annual contribution: These are the annual costs from January to December
- Pro-rato: In proportion. This means that the number of months of the year that have already passed will be deducted from your invoice
Next you will receive the annual contribution invoice each year.
For the MijnGS1 environment you have the role 'Administrator' or 'Financial'. If in MijnGS1 at the menu item 'Turnover verification' is no longer visible, you have already received a confirmation by e-mail.
You can also see under the menu item 'My account', tab 'Company data' whether your verification is pending. This message will disappear after acceptance of your verification and you will also receive a confirmation by e-mail.
Why do I have to declare my turnover, the annual accounts are filed with the Chamber of Commerce after all?
It is true that you are obliged to file annual accounts with the Chamber of Commerce, but you are not always obliged to file a profit and loss account there as well.
Therefore, we do not have the necessary information to be able to assess whether you are classified in the correct turnover category. That is why we request the statement from our customers every year.
When entering into the agreement to purchase one or more standards from GS1 Nederland, you agreed to the General Terms and Conditions (in Dutch). These state that we charge the annual contribution based on the company's turnover.
The turnover therefore determines the rate we charge. The starting point for the classification in turnover category is the so-called load-bearing principle. In order to be able to assess the classification in the correct turnover category, we ask you to substantiate your turnover. We would like to receive a specification of the total annual turnover from your last known annual accounts or, if these have not yet been drawn up, from your financial administration. This is not just about the turnover you generate using one of our standards, but about the total turnover of your company, regardless of how this turnover was generated.
We only treat your statement for the purpose of assessing whether you have been assigned to the correct revenue category.
How can you substantiate this information?
- With your last known annual accounts.
- It may be a column balance showing the most recent annual turnover.
- A list of invoice amounts excluding VAT in the year in question.
- A total count of the general ledger accounts showing the total turnover of the company.
- Of course we treat your turnover data with strict confidentiality
Make sure you have filled in all the required information. The following fields are mandatory:
- New turnover category
- Proof of your turnover in PDF format
- Invoice e-mail address
- Confirmation that you filled in your data truthfully
The contact person mentioned in the turnover verification letter is known to us as the main contact person of your organization for GS1.

I want to log in with another contact or e-mail address for turnover verification. What should I do?
Only the contact person mentioned in the turnover verification letter can activate accounts. He/she logs in MijnGS1 and assigns a (new) role. Contact persons with the role of 'Manager' or 'Financial' can do the revenue verification.
When you upload a PDF and you use Mozilla FireFox, you will get the message that the file is not a PDF file. This is a bug in Firefox which is fixed in version 50.
A workaround is to use a different internet browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge.
